    Jan 27, 2012 The Bellamy Brothers, Road Trip

"In the Garden" and "Mary Jane's" restaurants normally have music on Fri and Sat nites, so come have a meal, enjoy a glass of something and enjoy the music.

Come and stay and have some fun. There is a Quilt Trail to look at including Quilt blocks in Yancey and Mitchell counties, a Civil War Trail and recently Highway 80 just outside and inside Burnsville has been designated a North Carolina Scenic Highway. Yancey County is also the home of Mount Mitchell, the highest mountain (6,684') east of the Missisippi River, and is worth a visit.

Spring

The lush green spring is perfect for activities like the Burnsville Metric Bike Ride in April of 2012 (April 28, 2012), A paint out in town is May each year, (May 21, 2011 this year) come and bring your oil paints and win a prize, arts and crafts events such as the Toe River Arts Council's (TRAC) Spring Studio Tour (June 8-9-10, 2012 ), The Yancey County Farmer's Market is every Saturday April thru October.

Come stay with us and go golfing at a number of locations including the Mt. Mitchell Golf Club, Reems Creek Golf Club, Grassy Creek Golf Club in Spruce Pine, The Country Club of Asheville, and some others.

For hikers and sightseers Linville Falls,  Mt. Mitchell, Grandfather Mountain and the Applachian Trail are less than an hour away.

Summer

The warm days of summer turn hot with a new season, for one of oldest theatre companies in western North Carolina, the Parkway Playhouse. Come stay with with us for the Theatre nights. The 2012 schedule includes the following :

There is a Lavender Festival at a local farm every June (Fathers Day), and there is Rhododendron Festival in Spruce Pine in early June with trips to see the flowers on Roan Mountain. The 4th of July is always a big event in small towns, and our fireworks that nite are no exception. Mountain Air will be doing fireworks on July 4th and they can be seen from town also.

Look for great events like the Mt. Mitchell Crafts Fair the first weekend in August and Spruce Pine's Mineral show the previous week.

Penlands Annual Benefit Auction next year will be August 10-11, 2012.

Over the year, the changes in Burnsville and Yancey County are as dramatic as the change in seasons themselves. Besides the events and entertainment found during different seasons look for great shows, fairs and movies year-round at the Burnsville Town Center and Yancey Theatre.

Fall 

The wonderful fall color ushers in the Holiday Season events like The Burnsville Literary Festival (Sept 8-9, 2012,) Old Timey Days in the Town Square (September 24, 2011) and the Bakersville Creek Walk Crafters will be the same day, Sept 24, 2011. We also have events most weekends during the autumn.

 

Winter

With the New Year and cooler weather, there's a unique beauty to the white blanket that covers the mountains affording skiing and snowboarding at nearby Wolf Laurel.

The Toe River Arts Council Studio Tour is the December 2-3-4, 2012. Come and see the studios and get started with your Christmas shopping.

Burnsville’s Winterfest (Christmas Parade is first Sat in Dec) with events in the Town Square and Center. You can plan your visit to pick out your locally grown Fraser Fir Christmas trees which are the best in North Carolina.
